Riya Sen comes from a royal background; her father Bharat Dev Varma belongs to the royal family of Tripura. Her father was the son of Ila Devi, a princess of Cooch Behar and nephew of Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Her mother Moon Moon Sen and grandmother is Suchitra sen were reputed, veteran actresses.
She starts her acting journey in the year 1991 as a child actress in the film titled Vishkanya. Her first commercial success in her film journey was with the Style, a 2001 Hindi low-budget comedy which is directed by N. Chandra. Sen has acted as an activist and featured in an AIDS awareness music video intending to dispel famous myths related to the disease. She also does help to raise funds for underprivileged children and pediatric eye care.

Career: Riya Sen Bio
Riya Sen was first featured as a child artist in films like Vishkanya in the year 1991, where she portrayed the character of the young Pooja Bedi. At the age of only nineteen, she was the part of National Film Awards-winning director named Bharathiraja’s Tamil film, Taj Mahal (in the year 2000), which did not run as a commercial success.
She made her Bollywood film debut in the film titled Love You Hamesha, an opposite actor named Akshaye Khanna; however, Sen finally made her debut in N. Chandra’s Style in the year 2001. This low-budget comedy was the first commercial success in a long time for the director. A launchpad for Riya Sen, cast as the female lead along with fellow newcomers, Sahil Khan, Sharman Joshi, and Shilpi Mudgal, the film took charge of a trend of commercial success for also a small-budget film in India. Riya and the second female lead of the film were replaced by actresses named Sonali Joshi and Jaya Seal in Xcuse Me.
